Precepting Opportunity- Beginning in May!!!

Posted over 10 years ago by Traci Miller

Hello-

My name is Amy Heltemes, and I am in need of clinical hours starting this May. I am presently a Family Nurse Practitioner student at Simmons College in Boston. I have been a Registered Nurse for 19 years; and graduated with my Bachelors in the Science of Nursing from the University of Wisconsin in December of 1996; and have been practicing continually since that time. I live in Maryland (Frederick county); and am open to traveling to the surrounding counties. I am a student member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, and also a member of the Case Management Society of America.

Simmons College requires me to work one-on-one with a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Physician or Physician Assistant with at least 2 years of experience; obtaining 16 hours per week x 14 weeks; (May 18th-Aug 21st). As a Family Nurse Practitioner student I will need to obtain hours with a wide variety of patients including the following: Child/Adolescent, Adult, Geriatrics, Women's Health/OB. My focus will need to include primary care intervention/treatment such as the following: Wellness Visits/Physicals, Episodic/Sick Visits, and Women's Health/Well Woman Care. I do not have to encompass all patient populations in one clinical term.

If you think you are interested in mentoring a self-directed, and hard-working Family Nurse Practitioner student; or know of a primary care provider that enjoys working with students; I would appreciate discussing this with you.

Thank you for your time,

Amy Heltemes RN, BSN, Case Manager
