Chapter President Elect Nomination

The Maryland GAPNA Chapter has one open board member position for the 2016-2017 year. I am happy to announce that we have interest in the position.  Please see below for a short bio on the current candidate for President Elect. Ellen Goldstone, MS, CRNP graduated from the University of Maryland in 1981 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She later obtained her Masters, completing the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Maryland in 2008. Ellen was in the last class of strictly geriatric specialists. She truly believes that precepting is the best way that students can be introduced to our specialty and always encourages them to follow that path to practice. Ellen has worked in primary care, assisted living, nursing homes, and has also done house calls. She is now practicing at Broadmead retirement community (a CCRC in Cockeysville). Her goal as chapter president is to increase the number of NP student members by creative ways of encouraging attendance to meetings. She feels that our students are our future! Ellen has been a GAPNA member since she was a student and felt it gave her the opportunity to meet people from a variety of practice settings. Personally, Ellen has been married for 3 years and has 31 year old son and 29 year old daughter (from a previous marriage) and a new baby granddaughter. She also has 2 adult stepsons and 2 step grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, puzzles, and exercise.
